We service everything from city cars to light vans, two techs working at once. Torn between the PAD VII Elite and the Pro5 SmartLink C set. Is the bigger screen worth it, or is the SmartLink remote-diagnosis angle more useful in daily work?
For two simultaneous users, the PAD VII Elite is the safer pick: one tech works at the car while the second follows on the split screen. The SmartLink route shines when you also want to service customers remotely. Happy to compare both in writing — just ask via the product page.

Short question: I already own an X-431 tablet. Does the SmartLink C hardware work with my existing licence, or do I need the 20X upgrade card I saw in the catalogue?
It pairs with your existing X-431 account; the renewal card only matters if your software subscription has expired. Tell us your tablet model when ordering and we confirm compatibility before dispatch — region activation is checked with the official channel before anything ships.

Sharing what took us a morning to figure out: on pre-2013 trucks the HD III needs the legacy 24 V→12 V adapter BEFORE the OBD extension, not after. Error rate on handshake went from constant failures to clean connects on six test vehicles.
Order that worked for us: battery clamp → HD III → 24 V adapter → 6-pin/9-pin truck connector. Hope this saves someone the trial and error.

For anyone starting with immo work: bench reading with the GIII adapter set feels scary the first week, but it is far safer than on-vehicle attempts once you photograph every connection before powering up. Our rule: no connection without a photo, no power-up without a second check. Since we adopted that, zero burned boards in eight months.
Solid workflow. One addition from the service cases we see: always note the vehicle PIN separately — several users lost hours re-reading chips because the PIN screenshot lived on a phone that died.

The specification tables all look similar. What actually separates a €150 scanner from a €2,800 tablet is whether you need to command modules, code them, or program them online — and that is a question about your invoices, not your toolbox.
Launch devices are registered to a region. Activate outside it and the manufacturer can block the tool, gateways and immobilizer functions will not license, and warranty support gets complicated. Here is how the process works and what to demand from any seller.
A diagnostic tool is a platform, and the software on it expires. Here is the difference between a renewal card, an annual subscription and a function authorization — and the one buying mistake that costs the most.
