LAUNCH X431 PAD VII Elite Diagnostic Tablet
13-inch flagship platform with Smartlink C, ECU online programming, topology mapping and the widest Launch vehicle coverage licence.
X431 PAD and PRO series bidirectional scan tools — ECU coding, online programming, topology mapping
This is the family workshops buy when a fault code reader is no longer enough. The Launch X431 PAD and PRO series are bidirectional tools: they do not just read fault codes, they command actuators, run guided tests, code modules and — on supported vehicles — perform online programming through the manufacturer's server. If your work includes module replacement, injector coding, DPF regeneration or anything where you need to tell a car what to do rather than ask it what is wrong, this is the tier you are looking for.
The practical difference inside the family is coverage and speed, not basic function. The PRO series pairs a 10.1-inch Android tablet with the DBSCar or Smartlink connector: full-system diagnostics, ECU coding, 37–50+ service functions, topology mapping on supported brands. The PAD series moves to a larger, faster platform, adds a wider vehicle coverage licence, heavier multi-task performance and — importantly for European workshops — support for gateway authorizations on protected brands such as FCA SGW. Both run Launch's own operating layer with free two-year updates on most SKUs, after which a renewal card or annual subscription keeps the software current.
Two things decide which model fits. First, the vehicle mix in your market: diesel-heavy fleets and commercial vans push you towards the PAD platform and heavy-duty licences. Second, whether you need online programming as a paid service — that requires both the right hardware and an active software subscription, and it is the single most common disappointment when a workshop buys on price alone. Tell us what you service and we will shortlist honestly, including the models we think are wrong for you.

10.1-inch bidirectional tablet with Smartlink C remote diagnostics, ECU coding and 37+ service functions.
The value sweet spot: bidirectional diagnostics, 50+ service functions and Smartlink C, with a two-year update period.
Topology mapping, AutoAuth for FCA SGW and 37+ services — the version for workshops facing gateway-protected vehicles.
Both are bidirectional professional tools with ECU coding and multi-system diagnostics. The PAD series uses a larger, faster platform and carries broader vehicle coverage plus support for manufacturer gateway authorizations (for example FCA SGW); the PRO series delivers the same core diagnostic depth on a 10.1-inch tablet at a lower entry price. Choose PAD when you work across many brands, need gateway-protected vehicles or want maximum multi-tasking speed; choose PRO when your vehicle mix is narrower and price matters.
Yes — provided the device is registered to your region. We register every unit to the buyer's country through Launch's official channel before dispatch and send the confirmation with your order. A tool activated outside its registered region can be blocked by the manufacturer, which is why we do not ship un-registered devices.
Most PAD and PRO tools include a two-year free update period. After that, you continue with a renewal card or annual subscription, both of which can be purchased from us — see the Renewal Cards & Subscriptions category.
