PAD VII Elite vs Pro5 SmartLink — which one for a 4-bay general workshop?

Marco T. (IT) · 2026-09-28 · replies: 1

We service everything from city cars to light vans, two techs working at once. Torn between the PAD VII Elite and the Pro5 SmartLink C set. Is the bigger screen worth it, or is the SmartLink remote-diagnosis angle more useful in daily work?

Workshop answer (Team) · 2026-09-29

For two simultaneous users, the PAD VII Elite is the safer pick: one tech works at the car while the second follows on the split screen. The SmartLink route shines when you also want to service customers remotely. Happy to compare both in writing — just ask via the product page.

Does the SmartLink C need a separate software licence?

Jens K. (DE) · 2026-09-24 · replies: 1

Short question: I already own an X-431 tablet. Does the SmartLink C hardware work with my existing licence, or do I need the 20X upgrade card I saw in the catalogue?

Team · 2026-09-25

It pairs with your existing X-431 account; the renewal card only matters if your software subscription has expired. Tell us your tablet model when ordering and we confirm compatibility before dispatch — region activation is checked with the official channel before anything ships.

CRP919X BT as a first diagnostic tablet for a mobile mechanic — enough?

Tom W. (UK) · 2026-09-08 · replies: 1

I do mobile servicing and diagnostics, mostly 12 V passenger cars. Budget is real. Is the CRP919X BT a sensible first tablet, or should I stretch to the Pro3S Elite for the extra service functions?

Mobile answer (member) · 2026-09-09

Running a CRP919X BT as my only tablet for 14 months: battery life and Bluetooth stability in the van are fine, and it covers everything I meet on 12 V cars. The Pro3S adds topology maps and some brand-specific service routines — worth it only if you touch newer VW/BMW platforms weekly.
