Where key programming margins are
Key and immobilizer work is one of the few remaining services where a workshop can charge for expertise rather than parts. The X-PROG3 handles the chip-side work: reading and writing the immobilizer, engine and gearbox data, calculating what the new key needs. It is usually bought together with a scan tool, because the vehicle-side learning steps run through the tablet.
Set expectations honestly
Coverage changes with software releases, and some vehicles still need dealer-side or server-side calculation. Before you buy for a specific job, tell us the vehicle and we will check the current support list rather than quoting from memory.
