Key programming is where a workshop can charge properly for skill, and it is also where the wrong purchase hurts most. The Launch IMMO family has two distinct jobs. The X-PROG3 / X-PROG5 are programmer platforms: they read and write EEPROM and MCU data on immobilizer, engine and gearbox units, with a growing list of supported chips and adapters, and they are typically paired with a diagnostic tablet for the vehicle-side communication. The IMMO Plus class extends a compatible scanner with guided immobilizer functions and, on supported brands, all-key-lost procedures.

Three things determine whether a tool is actually usable in your market. Chip and vehicle support lists change — always check the current list rather than a year-old blog post. Software licences matter: some IMMO functions require an active subscription, not just the hardware. And regional registration must be correct, because immobilizer and gateway functions are precisely the ones the manufacturer gates by region. We handle that registration before shipping and confirm the licence state in writing.

If you are adding key programming as a service, we usually recommend starting with an X-PROG3 plus a mid-tier scanner rather than a top-end tablet, then upgrading once you know which brands actually walk through your door. We will tell you honestly when a job needs a dealer tool instead — that saves far more than the tool costs.
