The PRO5 sits where most independent workshops should be looking: full bidirectional diagnostics, ECU coding and a broad multi-brand licence on a 10.1-inch Android tablet, with the Smartlink C module that allows an experienced technician to assist remotely during a difficult job. It is not the cheapest way into Launch diagnostics, but it is the cheapest way into coding and actuation work, which is where the billable difference lies.
It is not the PAD platform: coverage licence breadth, gateway-protected vehicle support and raw multi-tasking speed are lower, and heavy-duty truck work needs the separate HD module plus licence. If your vehicle mix is broad and includes protected brands, the PAD tier is the honest recommendation.

Topology mapping, AutoAuth for FCA SGW and 37+ services — the version for workshops facing gateway-protected vehicles.
